The NGCM programme will deliver a next-generation torpedo countermeasure system for current and future Royal Navy submarine platforms. Designed to address evolving and emerging underwater threats, the system will adopt a spiral development approach to ensure long-term operational relevance and adaptability. In delivering the programme, TKMS ATLAS UK will leverage its deep expertise across hydro-acoustics, sonar systems, underwater communications, sensor engineering and systems integration, as well as its long-established torpedo countermeasure research capabilities. The parties have agreed not to disclose the contract value. The solution has been engineered to enhance platform availability while enabling future capability upgrades, representing a significant step forward in underwater survivability for the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet.
